Seekonk, Attleboro, North Attleboro, and Plainville Fire Departments to Compete in Wing Off for Muscular Dystrophy

Providence, R.I., June 7, 2010 – The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) is raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) during a three-part Wing Off Tournament between Seekonk Fire Department Local 1931, Attleboro Fire Department Local 848, North Attleboro Fire Department Local 1992 and Plainville Fire Department Local 3415.

The Wing Off Tournament will take place at Bone Yard Barbecue which is located at 540 Central Ave. in Seekonk, Mass. on June 8, 2010, June 22, 2010 and August 10, 2020 at 7 p.m. The team who can eat the most wings (in weight) wins. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a raffle. In the past, this event has raised around $2,000. This year, the IAFF hopes to raise $8,000.

This is the IAFF’s 56th year dedicating their time and efforts to the MDA. Since 1954 they have raised nearly $275 million dollars for the organization. They are the largest national sponsor of MDA and pride themselves on their devotion to the cause.

MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. The Association also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education, medical and support services, and far-reaching professional and public health education.
